Will Boris Johnson support a ban on gambling ads in football?

According to The Daily Telegraph, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is likely to support a ban on gambling ads on soccer jerseys. They refer to sources close to the ruling circle.

The government is in no hurry to make a decision, as the ban will take a huge part of the income from British clubs. Officially, the position of the ruling cabinet is that they will act on the basis of data collected by the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports. The ministry is currently looking into the issue and will provide a report and recommendations by the end of summer or fall.

There is also information that an alternative solution could be something like an additional tax for gambling companies that will be advertised through the form of football players. It is said that such a possibility was discussed informally.
